Woman stabbed, bludgeoned to death after sexual assault by neighbour
Chandigarh: A 35-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her neighbour in Daria village, Chandigarh, on Saturday noon. The accused allegedly tried to sexually harass the victim before murdering her, police said. He also injured the victim's relative, who tried to help. Industrial Area Phase-1 police arrested the accused.The deceased was identified as Seema of Daria village. Her husband, Pradeep, originally from Lalganj, Uttar Pradesh, worked in Baltana. On the day of the incident, Pradeep was at work while the victim's children were at school.

According to the family, Vinod, who lived in another room on the second floor of the same house, broke into Seema's room and tried to rape her. When she resisted, he allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed her repeatedly.The woman ran around the room, pleading for help, but no one was available. A shop owner downstairs heard the noise but did not intervene, assuming it was a domestic dispute. Eventually, the accused hit Seema on the head with a hammer, knocking her unconscious.Meanwhile, Lalit, a relative of Seema, arrived at her house. He peered through the window and saw Seema lying in a pool of blood.
The accused was sitting near her body. When he tried to open the door, the accused allegedly attacked him with a frying pan, injuring him. On hearing screams, other residents gathered and entered. They rushed Seema to hospital, where doctors declared her dead.The family of the deceased also alleged that despite receiving information, police did not arrive immediately.
